When it comes to cleaning performance, the Roborock Q8 Max Plus delivers impressive results. With 5,500 Pascal hyperforce suction power, it tackles dirt, dust, and hair on a variety of surfaces. The duo roller brush is specifically designed to reduce hair tangles. This vacuum also has the ability to mop while vacuuming, which means it picks up fine dust that vacuuming alone can miss. This vacuum has 30 adjustable water flow levels.

You can adjust the amount of water used for the mopping function, ensuring that it’s tailored for each cleaning task. Whether it’s a dry mess or a wet spill, the Q8 Max Plus switches between suction and mopping as needed. Additionally, the adaptive route algorithm makes sure it follows the most efficient cleaning path, avoiding obstacles and maximizing cleaning time. All of this makes it an adaptable solution for a variety of cleaning needs.

Reactive Tech Obstacle Avoidance

The Roborock Q8 Max Plus uses reactive tech obstacle avoidance to easily detect and avoid objects on the floor. So, there is no need to clear the space before cleaning. It navigates smoothly Around furniture toys and other items, ensuring a hassle-free experience. PreciSense liDAR navigation further enhances this by mapping the home accurately, helping the vacuum find the most efficient route for cleaning. This precise navigation technology allows the Q8 Max Plus to clean thoroughly and efficiently without missing any spots or getting stuck.

Self-Emptying Base System

One of the standout features of the Q8 Max Plus is its self-emptying base system. With the RockDock plus, it automatically empties its dustbin into a 2.5 L dust bag, meaning it can go up to 7 weeks without requiring attention. The dust bag uses E12 filtration to trap particles, keeping the air cleaner.

Additionally, this system prevents the hassle of manual emptying, making the cleaning process almost entirely hands-off. It’s the perfect solution for those who want convenience and efficiency.

Roborock's Application

Roborock’s application takes the hustle out of cleaning with its user-friendly features. You can set cleaning schedules, adjust suction power, and control the water flow for the mop, all from the application. The Q8 Max Plus creates detailed maps of the home up to six times faster than previous models, making cleaning more efficient.

The app also offers multi-level mapping and 3D mapping support, providing a clearer layout with added furniture and floor materials for better navigation. The vacuum moves smoothly between floor types, ensuring thorough cleaning on every surface. You can also create custom routines, select specific rooms, and customize cleaning modes for personalized preferences. The application suggests no-go zones to avoid tight spaces and adapts the cleaning schedule based on usage patterns. This vacuum can be controlled using voice control with Alexa, Google assistant and Siri available. The app also provides real-time updates to track cleaning progress and status, making it easy to monitor everything remotely.

Battery Life

The vacuum is powered by a 5,200 mAh battery. According to our testing, the Roborock Q8 Max Plus can clean for up to 240 minutes of time in quiet mode, covering a large area of up to 3,230 sq ft.

Roborock Q8 Max Plus Pros:

The biggest Pro is with its performance on carpet, which beat out the other models in the Q series, including the Q Revo, which has the same exact vacuum motor. While the mopping system lacks a vibration and lifting mop, it still manages to impress. I found when starting out it was very quick to fully saturate the pad with 30 water level settings to choose from in the app. The results are very tight water control for different floor types in your home, and the water output was always very consistent.

The last Pro is how easy it is to clean the rollers, which only get hair wrapped around the axles of the rollers and not the rollers themselves. Thankfully, these axles detach easily for cleaning. I will throw in a bonus pro, which is the fact that the navigation in the entire software experience for the Q8 Max Plus is excellent, which also holds true for the entire lineup. It really makes my testing so much easier, and thus I know the impact it will have on your experience at home.

Roborock Q8 Max Plus Cons:

Now there are a few cons for the Q8 Max Plus, the first being that you should not only rely on the very basic object avoidance, and you should always pick up before sending this robot out. you could say this system is better than not having anything at all, but I would not place any bets on it working well a majority of the time. I’m not entirely sure why the dual rollers do not perform as well as a single roller on hard floor surfaces, and even with a bigger vacuum motor, it still got beat out by the older Q7 Max Plus during testing. I do wish RoboRock included a carpet detection sensor so it could properly avoid carpets when mopping without having to create no-mopping zones in the app.

One positive note is that carpet boost while in vacuum-only mode was quick to activate when Crossing onto carpets. Last one is the value, which is close in retail to the Qrevo. It gives you a much better, more hands-off mopping experience with a dedicated carpet detection sensor and lifting spinning mops. The slightly older Q7 Max Plus can often be found on sale for way less than the retail price, and it gives you many of the same core functions as the Q8 Max Plus.

Final Thoughts

In conclusion, I think the Q8 Max Plus was designed for people who want the excellent performance of the dual rollers on carpet but don’t want to spring for the S8 plus model. It makes sense, especially if you don’t need the more advanced mopping system.
