My name is Aly and I'm a writer who is passionate about helping people find the best vacuum cleaner. Through hands-on testing and research, I break down suction power, features, and value to make buying easier for you.

Dealing with pets’ and humans’ hair is a hurdle for most of us. No matter how much we try, our pets shed so much hair. These pet and long human hairs can tangle in your vacuum’s brush, which can cause reduced suction power. It can also cause your brush rolls to clog over time. This can be very frustrating, detangling these hairs manually. But choosing the right vacuum cleaner makes your life a lot easier. Look for features like tangle-free brush rolls, powerful suction, and easy-to-clean filters. We will discuss what kind of vacuum cleaner is best in dealing with long human hairs.

In this article, we will discuss what makes a vacuum cleaner worth buying and what features will be best suited for your needs.

Dyson V15 Detect Cordless Vacuum

Dyson V15 Detect

The Dyson V15 is the best cordless vacuum I’ve ever come across. This is a high-end vacuum that cleans pet hair on various surfaces easily. Many users online praise this vacuum cleaner’s capabilities. The laser on the Fluffy seemed a bit gimmicky at first, considering I have had vacuums with powerful LEDs, but the laser takes it to another level, showing even greater detail. It works well in most lighting except for direct, super bright natural lighting.

If you’re looking for some additional bells and whistles like the push-button start, HEPA filtration, and a larger bin size, you might want to look at the Gen 5. That being said, I have to tell you about all the Dyson vacuums that have come out so far besides the Gen 5. I love this one the most. A Reddit user said, “I had the V7 before this, so I knew what to expect. Holy hell, this blows those expectations away. I have 4 dogs and some old-ass carpet, so I’ll never get my carpet clean-clean, but it pulls up a lot of stuff. I haven’t had any problems moving the vacuum around on carpet like you and a few other reviewers have mentioned, even with the carpet head set to full suction and boost mode used.”

Reasons to buy:

  • Great suction power.
  • Performs exceptionally well on all types of floors.
  • Piezo sensors are very helpful.
  • Different modes for different types of cleaning.

Reasons to avoid:

  • Higher Price.
  • No self-emptying base.
Shark stratos cordless duoclean

Shark Stratos Upright Vacuum

The Shark Stratos is the most expensive upright vacuum cleaner by Shark so far. It is packed with so many features, making it a great cleaning tool for families with multiple pets. The Shark Stratos has an odor-neutralizing system, which can be a significant plus for pet owners. This vacuum cleaner is equipped with a DuoClean PowerFins HairPro brush roll. These brushes can easily remove pet hair from carpets and hard floors without getting tangled.

The Stratos is designed to prevent hair from wrapping around the brushroll, which can be a common issue with other vacuums. Another great feature I love about the Shark Stratos is the Powered Lift-Away feature. This feature allows you to detach the canister for easier cleaning of stairs, furniture, and hard-to-reach areas. Its lightweight design and swivel steering make it easy to maneuver around furniture and tight spaces.

Reasons to buy:

  • Removes human and pet hairs efficiently.
  • Can also be used as a portable vacuum.
  • Odor-neutralizing technology is a huge plus for pet owners.

Reasons to avoid:

  • A bit noisy operation.
Dyson gen5detect cordless vacuum cleaner

Dyson Gen5detect

The Dyson Gen5detect is a popular choice for pet owners, but its effectiveness can vary depending on specific needs and preferences. It is very similar to other high-end vacuum cleaners like the Dyson’s V15 and V12, with some exceptions that make it better; it offers several enhancements over previous versions. Its unique Fluffy optic cleaner head uses a green light laser to increase the visibility of dirt and dust. This laser helps in recognizing the hidden dust, which can be overlooked with a normal vacuum.

This vacuum is ideal for smaller to medium-sized homes with mostly hard floors and some carpets. This vacuum is a combination of a hyperdymium motor, advanced filtration, and many attachments, which makes it a great choice for people who prefer a premium cleaning experience. The dustbin is smaller compared to other models, which can be a drawback for homes with multiple pets or large areas to clean.

Reasons to buy:

  • 70 minutes of runtime.
  • Comes with a hyperdymium motor.
  • The LCD shows informative real-time data.
  • Comes with built-in brush and crevice tool.

Reasons to avoid:

  • Heavier when using in handheld mode.

Miele Cat & Dog C3

The Miele Cat & Dog C3 is a bagged vacuum cleaner that is highly recommended due to its better filtration and hygiene compared to bagless models. It comes with a powerhead, which performs a huge role in effective carpet cleaning and removing pet hairs. The Miele Cat & Dog C3 also comes with a turbo brush or electrobrush, which is highly effective on carpets & pet hair.

This model is specially designed for pet owners and comes with necessary attachments. While the C3 is primarily designed for carpets, it also performs well on hard floors using appropriate attachments. The Miele Cat & Dog C3 comes at a price point of $1,239.00, but it’s worth the investment.

Reasons to buy:

  • Powerful suction, great for pet hairs.
  • Quiet Operation.
  • Large dust bag
  • Activated charcoal filter reduces pet odors

Reasons to avoid:

  • Expensive upfront
  • heavy to carry
  • Not ideal for large debris
Bissell CleanView XR Pet

Bissell CleanView XR Pet

The Bissell CleanView XR Pet is made specifically for pet owners, which makes it one of the best budget-friendly vacuum cleaners on the market, delivering strong suction power and various attachments to deal with pet hair and dirt embedded within. It comes with a multi-cyclonic system that ensures steady performance and a tangle-free brush roll that helps reduce hair wrap, making it perfect for homes with shedding animals. The vacuum has a SmartSeal Allergen System to aid in trapping dust and allergens inside, and it also comes with a Pet TurboEraser tool to use for cleaning upholstery and stairs.

Although the CleanView XR Pet provides great value for the price and impressive daily performance, it does not have sophisticated smart features or a self-emptying base and can be heavy to handle in more constricted areas.

Reasons to buy:

  • Pet friendly vacuum
  • Budget-friendly.
  • Comes with a detachable battery
  • Lightweight, Easy to carry,

Reasons to avoid:

  • Not good at cleaning edges.
  • Loud during operation.
  • Small dustbin.

Kenmore 600 Series

The Kenmore 600 series is a decent option for pet hair that offers good cleaning performance on hardwood floors. It lacks the suction power needed to clean low- and high-pile carpets. Despite this drawback, this vacuum cleaner has the longest reach of all the vacuums we’ve tested. It comes with a Powermate powerhead, which has lots of adjustments.

It’s very bulky and isn’t easy to maneuver. It does clean pretty well on hard surfaces and has normal performance overall. The Kenmore 600 Series Pet PowerMate failed to live up to its name. Much of the hair got wrapped around the brush roll.

Reasons to buy:

  • Long cord for better reach
  • Múltiples ajustments.
  • Performs well on hard floors.

Reasons to avoid:

  • Mediocre performance on low and high pile carpets.
  • Bulkier then most vacuums
